t Catalyst Global, we believe that a connected, engaged, and thriving team is the heartbeat of any successful organization. As the world’s leading provider of innovative teambuilding solutions, our mission is centred around searching for insights to help our clients create workplaces where employees flourish. The recently released Gallup State of the Global Workplace: 2025 Report provides a sobering assessment of the current state of employee engagement and well-being, alongside actionable opportunities for organizations to turn the tide. Here’s how Catalyst Global can help you address these challenges and build a stronger, more cohesive workforce.

The Engagement Crisis: Key Findings from Gallup

Gallup’s 2025 report, based on responses from over 128,000 employees across 160 countries, reveals a troubling trend: global employee engagement has dropped to 21% in 2024, down from 23% in 2023, marking the steepest decline since the onset of the pandemic. This translates to a staggering $438 billion loss in global productivity, with disengagement costing the global economy $8.9 trillion annually. That’s roughly 9% of global GDP.

Other critical insights include:

  • Manager engagement is down three points, amplifying the crisis, as managers drive 70% of team engagement.
  • Only 33% of employees are “thriving”, with younger workers (under 35) experiencing sharper declines in well-being.
  • Twenty percent of employees report experiencing daily loneliness, particularly in remote settings, which contributes to feelings of disconnection.
  • 62% of employees are “quiet quitting” (doing the bare minimum), while 15% are actively disengaged, undermining organizational goals.
  • Only 32% see growth opportunities, 41% feel aligned with their organization’s mission, and 26% receive adequate recognition.
  • These numbers paint a clear picture: workplaces are struggling to keep employees motivated, connected, and mentally healthy. But there’s hope. Gallup emphasizes that engaged managers, meaningful recognition, and strong team connections are key to reversing these trends. That’s where Catalyst Global comes in.

How Catalyst Team Building Can Help

At Catalyst Global, our teambuilding programs are designed to address the root causes of disengagement, foster collaboration, and create human-centric workplaces. Drawing on Gallup’s recommendations, here’s how our solutions align with the report’s insights:

    The infinite loop

    1. Strengthening Manager Engagement

Gallup highlights that 70% of team engagement depends on managers. Yet, managers are under immense pressure, reporting higher stress and loneliness. Our Leadership Development Team Building Programs, such as The Infinite Loop, Leadership Stories, and Peak Performance, empower managers with the tools to inspire their teams. These immersive experiences focus on communication, trust-building, and problem-solving, equipping leaders to foster engagement and create a ripple effect across their organizations.

    2. Combating Loneliness and Building Connection

With 20% of employees feeling lonely daily, particularly in remote and hybrid settings, fostering connection is critical. Our flagship programs, such as Go Team, The Big Picture, Beat the Box, and Orchestrate, bring teams together, whether in-person or virtually, to interact, collaborate, and bond, often in a fun-filled and energizing environment. These activities break down silos, encourage authentic interactions, and create lasting connections that combat isolation and boost well-being.

    Escape the Blizzard

    3. Reigniting Purpose and Recognition

Gallup notes that only 41% of employees feel their work aligns with their organization’s mission, and just 26% receive adequate recognition for their efforts. Our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Teambuilding Activities, such as Building a Dream and Give Backpack, allow teams to contribute to meaningful causes while working toward shared goals. These programs instill a sense of purpose and provide opportunities for teams to celebrate collective achievements, reinforcing recognition and alignment with organizational values.

    4. Enhancing Well-Being Through Fun and Engagement

High stress, reported by 41% of employees, and low well-being are negatively impacting productivity. Our Quickfire and BeatsWork programs inject energy and fun into the workplace, using gamified challenges and rhythmic collaboration to reduce stress and spark joy. By creating positive shared experiences, these activities help employees feel valued and supported, directly addressing Gallup’s call for human-centric workplaces.

    5. Preparing Teams for the Future

Gallup’s report also highlights a lag in AI adoption, with 70% of employees rarely using AI and a 6% drop in AI preparedness. Our informative and engaging A to Z of AI introduces the world of AI to novices in a fun, non-threatening way. At the same time, our innovative Breaking News AI and HIT Factory are part of a growing genre of AI experiences that expose teams to exploring and deploying AI in abstract environments, learning to leverage its power, and building confidence and collaboration in the face of digital transformation.
